Dr. Bach

"John R. Bach, M.D., is another must-read author in the NMD community. His book, Guide to the Evaluation and Management of Neuromuscular Disease (Hanley & Belfus, Inc., 1999), presents in plain language an excellent overview of the stages of neuromuscular disease and the medical complications that may arise in each stage. One of the refreshing differences between this book and others on the subject is Dr. Bach’s “good news,” forged in experience rather than statistics, of the treatment options that help children and adults with NMD live longer and avoid invasive medical procedures." Hugs And Hope

Children fighting for their lives have very little to smile about. You can change that by sending them some "Happy Mail." Cheery cards give these kids a few more smiles, a little more hope, and a reason to get out of bed each day.

Madison's Foundation

Madisons Foundation is dedicated to improving the quality and quantity of information available to parents of children with rare, life-threatening diseases, and to facilitating effective communication amongst parents, physicians and medical experts. Our core value is that information is support. We believe helping parents make informed decisions can alleviate some of the frustration they inevitably experience when fighting for their children's lives.

The Madisons Foundation Rare Disease Research Project enlists UCLA medical students to work with afflicted children, their parents and attending physician specialists to generate accurate – and parent-friendly – data about diseases and available treatments. Developed in conjunction with the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, we believe these students are the vanguard of a new generation of physicians who embrace the special challenge of communicating effectively with parents and children.
