Juvenile Myositis (JM) — including Juvenile Dermatomyositis, Juvenile Polymyositis and Juvenile Amyopathic Dermatomyositis — is a rare autoimmune disease that affects approximately 5,000 children in the United States. JM attacks children of all ages, causing a variety of debilitating symptoms that can include muscle weakness and muscle pain, severe fatigue, skin rashes, swallowing and digestive difficulties, lung and heart problems, vasculitic ulcers and calcinosis. Some children may experience a remission, while others will battle JM their entire life.
Medication can help to alleviate the symptoms of JM, but there is no known cure... yet. As its name implies, the Cure JM Foundation was created specifically to find such a cure. Cure JM was established as a 501c(3) non-profit organization, and donations are tax deductible. Please join us in the fight against this disease, so that no child in the future will ever suffer the pain of JM.
